The gap after the yes
Coming from a sales background, I know a deal isn't done until the money's in the bank and they've signed on the dotted line.
Here's what happens in a lot of businesses. The client gets excited and agrees to go ahead. Then it takes you a couple of days to write the proposal. In that time they overthink it and get in their own head, and by the time it lands, they've decided to cancel.
What you need is a way to create the proposal instantly.
The steps
This is the reel, written down.
-
Create a project
In the Claude desktop app, create a new project and call it Proposal Generator. Add your proposal template to its files, with the parts that change marked out, like
[CLIENT NAME],[BUSINESS],[WHAT'S INCLUDED]and[PRICE]. -
Make the connections
Go to Settings → Connectors and connect three things:
- Your CRM, so Claude can find the client and their details.
- Your signing platform of choice, so the proposal goes out ready to sign. Check your tool is in the connectors list. If it isn't, Claude can attach the proposal as a PDF instead.
- Your email, to send it.
Make sure each one has the permissions it needs, like reading contacts in the CRM and creating drafts or sending in your email.
-
Give it the instructions, as a skill
This is where a skill comes in really handy. It's the same procedure every time, and the skill holds every instruction Claude needs to go from start to finish. Paste this into a new skill (Day 20 shows how) and change the brackets to fit your business:
Proposal skill: SKILL.md--- name: proposal-generator description: Creates and sends a client proposal from my template. Use when I say I've spoken to a client and they're happy to go ahead. --- # Proposal generator When I tell you a client has agreed to go ahead: 1. Find the client in my CRM by name. Pull their full name, business name and email address. If there's more than one match, ask me which. 2. Open the proposal template in this project's files and fill in every bracketed field. Use only what I've told you and what's in the CRM. 3. The price is always the one I give you. Never work one out, round it or change it. If I haven't given one, ask. 4. If anything is missing, ask me before going any further. Never make up what's included. 5. Send the proposal through [your signing platform] to the email in the CRM, with a short covering email: [how you sign off emails]. 6. Tell me it's sent, with the client's name, the price and the email it went to.
-
Tell it who said yes
Straight after the call, tell Claude who you spoke to and the price:
After the callI just spoke to Mr Smith. He's happy to go ahead at a price of £2,000. Please send him the proposal to the email address listed on the CRM.
Claude uses the skill and the connections, creates the proposal and sends it for you.
The result
The proposal can be with the client, ready to sign, about 30 seconds after the call. If you're really good, you can even do it while you're still on the phone, and get them to sign while they're most eager to go ahead.
For your first few proposals, change step 5 of the skill to “show me the proposal and wait for my OK before sending”. Once you've seen it get them right, take that line back out.
What you need
- A paid Claude plan and the Claude desktop app.
- A CRM, a signing platform and an email account that connect to Claude.
- Your proposal template, with the parts that change marked out.
